I love the new Farmers Insurance commercial. The slogan is “What you don’t know can hurt you.” Isn’t that the truth in sales, too?

 

One of the main reasons why the sales profession has such a bad reputation is because there is a lot we don’t know, and we are not doing anything to educate and train ourselves to become better. That means we are still practicing when it comes to dealing with our customers.

 

Make it a priority this year to identify the areas that are hurting your sales performance and put together a training and development plan for yourself. Remember that preparation and practice in the areas you need improvement will provide you with peak performance in 2013.
